Mia Garaz, Week 2, Superhero or Super Not It?
INCOMING SPOILER ALERT! If you plan to watch the new Blue Beetle movie, maybe read this another time. This past weekend I watched DC’s newest superhero movie, The Blue Beetle. Now, I am not the biggest superhero movie fanatic, but I do enjoy watching them, especially Marvel! Though this was not a Marvel character the trailer made it seem super funny and interesting, so I decided to give it a chance. The general plot of the movie is that there is a Mexican boy Jaime, who just graduated from college, and is going back home to his family. Sadly, his family is going through some financial problems, so he and his younger sister seek out janitorial jobs at a huge company named Korp that owns half the city. The owner of Korp, Victoria, is evil and wants to turn the company into a military weapon business with the help of an ancient alien technology (in the shape of a scarab) that holds the power to turn anyone into an indestructible fighting machine. Her niece is trying to stop her evil plans and even steals the scarab, but she gives it to Jaime to hide and the unthinkable happens. The scarab “chooses” Jaime and transforms him into the Blue Beetle. Now he and his family need to fight Victoria as she tries to kill Jaime to get the scarab back. Basically, at this point of the movie, it was your typical fighting and action kind of stuff you would expect from this type of film.
I honestly really enjoyed the film! It had an interesting plot, a fun family, a cute romantic storyline, and a satisfying ending, though it does seem unfinished in the way I assume they will make more movies and become a franchise. My only complaint about this movie is that it was very long and had unnecessary scenes. The film ran for a total of 2 and a half hours, and when you start a movie at 8-10 PM you get extra tired and start to not pay attention. However, I would not call this movie boring, everything was entertaining, just a little too long! Have you watched this movie yet, and if yes did you like it? If you haven’t watched it yet, I strongly recommend you grab some friends and have a cinema night! Lastly, if you could be a superhero what would your special abilities be and why? I would love to be able to teleport. Saves so much time, and it would be really funny to confuse and scare people! Can’t wait to see all of your responses!

ReplyDeleteThank you for the insight into the movie. I wasn't planning on watching it, but after reading what you wrote, it sounded interesting and worth watching. If I could have any superpower, I would choose super-speed because it is really useful and has many cool features that come with it, like time travel and phasing through objects (even though the new Flash movie sucked).
