Week 1- Joey Siemens; The Thrill of Junior Year
For my entire life, I have attended Donna Klein Jewish Academy just like my two older brothers. It seems like yesterday when I was in kindergarten getting M and Ms from my teacher Ms.Forster. I reached a point in my life where I carry much more responsibility than I ever had. I'm studying for SATs, taking AP classes, and playing sports for our school, and it feels like every day is just a nonstop grind. I'm starting to feel more like an adult and it scares me. The thought of going to college is something I am not willing to accept right now, but the reality is I am going to have to learn to grow up on my own and adapt to my environment.
Junior year is supposed to be the toughest year of high school. It is the year when you have to start thinking about where the best fit for you is. I don't know where the best fit for me is. My whole life I have been fantasizing about going to the University of Florida. The sports there are amazing and so as the academics. The thought of me wearing Orange and Blue, standing in the student section with 100,000 fans at Ben Griffin Hill stadium gives me the chills. That is where my thoughts are, but it is the start of junior year and I still have some figuring out to do.
What are your thoughts about Junior Year? Are you more prepared for college than I am, or does the thought of college scare you?
I totally agree. The thought of becoming an adult is scary but it is one we have to accept. I think we should enjoy being a child for the last 2 years while we still can. Separately, I'm sure you will achieve your goals as long as you keep up the hard work.
ReplyDeleteThis is very relatable and I 100% understand and agree with everything you're saying about the stress of school right now. Good luck with UF and hope you get in!
ReplyDeleteIt really is crazy how we are juniors and on the way to becoming adults. It doesn't feel right being this close to college. Hopefully everyone goes towards the path they desire including your goals of UF.
ReplyDeleteI remember when the only thing I had to worry about was lunch football and now I have to stress every day about school work, grades, and SAT prep. I don't really know if I'm ready for college yet but I hope as the year progresses I feel much better about it.
