Rylan Frydman - Week Three: Football Injuries
Football is one of the most exciting, popular, sports played. The thrill of scoring a touchdown or making a big catch just makes the sport that much more amazing. However, with football comes injuries, many many injuries. Every week, different players get hurt, some better and some worse. Injuries truly ruin the game of football and every other sport played.
These past couple of weeks as football has begun, I have had an amazing time watching and cheering on the teams and players. Yet I have witnessed multiple injuries that just make you feel terrible for the players. For example, in Week 1 of the NFL, Aaron Rodgers had a season ending injury that will keep him out until next year. If you didn’t know, Aaron Rodgers is an NFL quarterback of 18 years in the NFL, and he was going to play his first game with a new team and on the first drive, about 1 minute into the game, he suffered a season ending injury. Just like that his season was over, and with age catching up to him, he may not have many more. This week as well, while watching football, I witnessed one of the worst injuries I’ve seen in my life. I couldn't fathom what he was going through at the time. The player was Nick Chubb and he was starting the year looking like one of the best running backs in the league. However, in the second half of the game, he had a very gruesome injury that will keep him out for the rest of the year and maybe more. Possibly ending his career.
I love football very much, yet traumatic injuries that occur way too often, simply ruin the game for fans and players. These injuries have short and long term effects on the players for the rest of their life, including concussions, ACL, MCL, and many more. Injuries are the worst, they ruin the game of football and affect player's career. Can any of you recall an injury that ruined or affected a player sports career?
