Jayden Kahn - Week 8; OG Fortnite Returns
Yes, you saw that right. The moment everyone has waited for. The original Fortnite map is back!
Around 2018, Fortnite was all anyone talked about. It was the most popular game by far and took the world by storm. Every day kids would come home from school and play with their friends. However, the game started to lose interest around the 8th season and it stayed this way for about half a year. Then Covid hit and people turned their heads back to Fortnite. Fortnite was not only a super fun way to waste time, but it had turned into a way to hang out with friends without really being able to see their faces in person. People called this Fortnite's second prime. Fortnite not only had an all-new map but there were huge new features - such as bosses, new guns, a new rarity, etc - and numerous live events that kept players engaged. However, similar to before, this "second prime" began to fade. Fortnite went a little too far, making the game worse and worse, altering the map, adding anime and more and more of the fanbase left the game.
As the years passed, people continued to reminisce about old Fortnite, but also about the memories that came with it (even if they did not realize it). People constantly said they missed the old map and some even used their public platforms to ask for change. However, Fortnite decided to bring back the original map in a new season called "Fortnite OG" in which each season lasts a week - as opposed to the 2-3 month seasons - for 4 weeks. Just days before Fortnite brought back the original map, only 200,000 players were playing their infamous game mode "Battle Royale". On the day of the update, it saw an all-time high with nearly 6 million concurrent players all playing at once. All those cherished moments from our childhoods were brought back and old squads came back together to play together again. Epic Games finally answered all of our prayers and it paid off for them.
Have you played Fortnite OG yet? What are your thoughts?
I did play the new Fortnite OG, and it was awesome! It definitely brought back some nostalgic feelings. I do think it was kind of over hyped though.
