Anna Shimonovitc: Week 7 - Shows are better than movies

Image
I love watching TV. I think we can all agree that TV shows are good. And if you disagree, you're weird, respectfully. But movies are good too. Both movies and TV shows are good sources of entertainment. But which is better? My answer: TV shows. They just are, but if you're not convinced then you're wrong. And let me tell you why.      I don't like sitting through a whole movie. Every time I get excited to watch a movie I immediately realize that I can't get up for the next hour and a half, at least if I'm at a movie theater. Even if I'm at home, I have to either watch the whole two-hour movie or pause it and remember where I left off. But that would never be a problem with TV shows. A TV show is just a long movie series split up into 20 or 40-minute increments. Each season is just a really long movie, that's part of a series of other movies if there is more than one season. Which is perfect for watching one episode a day, or watching a few and c...

Josh Matheson - Week 7; Is It Too Early To Start Worrying About the Miami Heat?

Image
The first week of the 2023 NBA season has officially been completed.  With high expectations after last season's performance, the Miami Heat's performance so far this year has been disappointing.  At the moment the Heat hold a record of 1-3, which is a rough record to have considering that the Heat were playing in the Finals 5 months ago.  The Heat began the season on a win and have dropped the last 3 games.  Many believe that the Heat did not belong to go as far as they did last season, but in my opinion that is not the case.  The Heat have built a culture and family over the past decade and even though on paper, the Heat are not filled with big names and star player's in the league, they find a way to work harder than everyone else and gut out key wins in big time games.  Some also believe that the reason for the underperformance of the Heat this year, was due to the shaky offseason as the Heat were expected to make a move for star point guard Damian Lill...

Mia Garaz, Week 7, Being New On The Soccer Team

Image
Soccer is a fun, competitive, team sport that has many benefits. Soccer is an exciting sport; it’s a great way to make new friends and a productive hobby that can expose new skills. It’s competitive; however, the adrenaline and determination you get during a soccer game builds endurance. Competition is a great motivation to improve yourself. I always try my best in soccer; however, I also take notes on what I can work on to improve my performance. Soccer also builds teamwork skills. You have to have precise communication with your teammates to formulate your next move. These are some of the qualities that I love about the game. Recently, I tried out for the school’s soccer team, and fortunately, I made it. I was very excited to be on the team but also quite nervous because I’d never played soccer on an actual team before. I tried my best and practiced, so when I heard the coach and my other teammates were impressed, I was thrilled. Trying new things and stepping outside of your comfo...

Joey Siemens- Week 7; Why are videogames worse now?

Image
The childhood days. What was so good about them? One of the best things about my childhood days was the video games. I used to play Mariokart, pokemon, prime Fortnite, and many others. Back then, the video games were so fun. There were many different types of fun Mario games. There was Fortnite with the best maps. What happened? Now they come out with video games like Fall Guys and MultiVersus (Off Brand Super Smash Brawl). I think they came out with off-brand games because the games back then were so good that they thought they could make something based on the same ideas, but it didn't work as effectively as they thought. I don't know if it is the new technology or just running out of ideas to make better games than during my childhood days because I know back then I always played video games. Now, I don't play them that often because they turn out to be so boring. I appreciate my childhood days so much now because of the many memories I made out of them. Even the...

Jayden Kahn - Week 7; Drake Album review 1 month after

Image
Everyone has their immediate reactions to albums, but after a month, once you have listened to it repeatedly, their opinions change and how they truly feel about it will be expressed about a month in. When people first listen to an album, especially one from Drake, their expectations are high and they are hype which can sway their original reactions, but a month later, once everything has sunk in, their true opinions come out.  It has been a month since Drake released his album "For All the Dogs" and it's officially time to review it.     When the album was originally released, I was hyped up. First of all, it was Drake, and second, there had not been good music released in a while. Music in 2023 has been generally slow, with limited hit releases, other than big names like Travis Scott and now Drake. My first reaction to the album was that it was amazing. There were about 7 songs out of the 19 released that I thought were amazing. It was interesting to...

Elai Avidor - Week Seven; Food

Image
Food is a big part of our lives; we are constantly consuming it and sometimes even consumed by it. Families bond over dinner, people celebrate special occasions by going out to eat, and children are rewarded with dessert. From very early in our lives, we are taught that food is much more than the nutrients and sustenance it provides us with. It is an experience and pleasure event. Food is something to be cherished, rightfully so, but this also leads to many problems. When you turn food into a reward system, it causes unhealthy eating habits for children. Instead of a child getting the proper nutrients from healthier alternatives, they are conditioned to want junk food that is much worse for their health long-term.      Some examples of this are holidays. When people think of holidays, they think of the food that entails. On Halloween, you get candy. Thanksgiving is gravy and stuffing. Easter is chocolate. Chanukah is Hamantashen. Christmas is eggnog an...

Rylan Frydman - Week 6 : Basketball SZN

Image
Rylan Frydman - Week Six : Basketball SZN     As of tonight, Basketball season is  officially  on its way. The first game is between the Los A ngelus  Lakers and the former NBA champions, the Denver Nuggets. It has been a long awaited  time since last tipoff, when the Miami Heat lost to the Nuggets on June 12. There have been many new trades and exciting new players to look forward to watching this year.      Some of the most notable  trades this year have been Damian  Lillard, Chris Paul, and Bradley Beal. Lillard was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks after spending his whole career in Portland. The Miami Heat were runner ups to acquiring him, specifically after Lillard requested to be traded to Miami. However, after many discussions, he was traded to  Milwaukee where he looks to win his first championship with former MVP, Giannis Antehekumpo.  Speaking of  championships, Chris Paul was traded to the Gol...
